Montreal-February 15, 2021-Gildan Activewear Inc. won this award for the ninth consecutive time in the Sustainability Yearbook, consolidating its position as a sustainability leader in the apparel manufacturing industry. The award is designed to recognize The world’s best performing sustainable company. This year, Gildan won the silver award because the company’s ESG score is within 1% to 5% of the industry’s highest performing companies. Gildan scored the highest in categories related to climate strategy, operational eco-efficiency, occupational health and safety, and risk and crisis management. Gildan once again became the only company in North America recognized as a sustainability leader in the textile, apparel and luxury goods industries.
The Sustainability Yearbook published by Standard & Poor’s Global is one of the most comprehensive publications in the world, providing in-depth analysis on corporate sustainability. This annual ranking shows the sustainability performance of the world’s largest companies and rewards the top 15% of companies. This year, a record number of companies in 61 industries were evaluated with the aim of identifying those companies that can represent leading company sustainability practices and focus on long-term growth drivers.
